It seems like we just stored last season’s goods and it is already March with all the final planning, organizing and plotting in place for the next.
One of the innovations of the upcoming season will for sure be IoT equipped with low-power wide-area (LPWA) network modules, thus revolutionising the field of networking and connectivity.
We are happy to say that our weather stations have recently joined the LPWA family – first to Vodafone’s NB-IoT.
The first Pessl Instruments’ NB-IoT installations have made a successful appearance at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) in Barcelona along with the presentation of a new online platform to represent the collected data. We had a great opportunity to speak to the visitors – thank you very much for your feedback.
NB-IoT uses an ultra low, cost effective power chip, with a long-range reach, which can connect almost every corner of the world with the Internet, reusing the commercial mobile network. The farmers will get wide connectivity to their own fields for timely application of plant protection products, when spreading fertilizers, seeding and ploughing, when harvesting and in many other activities.
The NB-IoT has been a large step forward for Pessl Instruments and we will keep you informed about further developments in the field of LPWA.
